False Advertising – 100 word flash fiction

An interesting weekly photo prompt for short stories by the Friday Fictioneers.  Thought I’d indulge myself and try my hand at flash fiction. Not specifically Fantasy or Science Fiction, but a good experience none the less. Hope you enjoy.

False Advertising

Frog looked up from the map. “I swear Georgia, we must have taken a wrong turn somewhere.”

“No, this is the right place”, she replied. “I’m afraid the advert may have been a bit misleading.”

Throwing the map over his shoulder, Frog pulled out the brochure and re-read the offending text.

“Waterside views and year round sunshine is some stretch of the imagination. But what really gets me is this.”

Georgia raised an eyebrow as Frog read out a particular sentence.

“Our cottages are located in areas of natural beauty”.

Frog gave her a look of incongruity. “It’s a damn swamp.”

  1. As always, comments and feedback welcome

  2. False advertising in this day and age? My goodness. Very cute read and I liked it a lot. We have stayed in some of these places that were touted as being ‘fabulous’ Thanks, Nan

  3. Dear Welchy,

Welcome to Friday Fictioneers. Creative advertising can be misleading. Hey. A swamp is nature, right? Well written. I look forward to reading more from you.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

PS it’s okay to paste the photo prompt into your blog.
