Adam held up the lamp for examination, trying his best to look uninterested. ‘How much?’
The Hawker’s heavily accented reply seemed thoughtful. ‘For you my friend, ten pounds!’
A collector of rare and mystical items, Adam struggled to contain his excitement. The piece in his hands, he suspected, was much more than it seemed.
The style of the silk shaded lamp was late Victorian; a clever guise to throw off the most ardent of seekers. The real giveaway however was a barely noticeable inscription inside the rim, written in ancient Sanskrit to conceal its true purpose.
Caution – Contains Djinn, rub with care. Contents of lamp may be disagreeable to user and cause random acts of mischief and sabotage.
